Jeff Vengrow, 1949 - 2010
We were saddened to learn of the death on November 9th of Jeff Vengrow. The Gestalt Institute of Cleveland owes Jeff a great debt of gratitude for the leadership he gave GIC as Interim Executive Director from 2006 to 2008. "Jeff lived his life in accordance with his personal life long goals," said The Akron Beacon Journal when his death was announced." These were three:
1) Make a Difference: For almost thirty-five years, Jeff Vengrow used the extensive private sector experience he had acquired in such areas as employment law, human resources, operations management, business ownership and business development to help non-profit organizations operate more effectively. Jeff served as an unpaid volunteer on many community (non-profit) boards, notably the Summit County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Summit County Social Services Advisory Board, Infoline and The Lippman Day School."
2) Die a wise person; which he achieved, said the Beacon Journal, "by continuous learning, most recently through the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland where he was Interim Director for two years."
3) Have fun along the way. The paper put it perfectly: "Jeff enjoyed life to the fullest and made others smile."
In 2005 he joined the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, where he developed and led CNE affordable option for nonprofit organizations to acquire both consulting and training assistance that is tailored to address their specific management challenges. Jeff saw the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland as a precious regional, indeed, international, asset that must be protected and strengthened in these challenging times. We will miss his sage advice and encouraging presence.
